"It's a personal decision" - Head Coach Marc Mattioli leaves Musketeers
Marc Mattioli extended his contract with the Paris Musketeers for a further season late in October. Now the successful head coach is surprisingly stepping down.
"It's a personal decision that will allow me to follow personal and professional goals in the USA," explains Mattioli. He adds: "The last two years have been some of the best of my life, and I am honored to have served this team and this organization. The Musketeers are in good hands and will continue to grow and reach new heights."
Mattioli became the first ELF head coach of the Musketeers in 2023. He brought success to the young team early on. Under him, the French team finished second in the Western Conference last season with a record of 10:2 and reached the semi-finals, where they lost to the Vienna Vikings.
"Thank you to the management and ownership for giving me this opportunity and allowing me to experience this adventure with them from the beginning. Thank you to the coaches and staff over the past two years; we have created a bond that will last forever, and I am proud of the work we have done together," says Mattioli.
Now he is returning to his home country. "I'm leaving a piece of my heart behind in Paris, but I'm leaving as a better coach and a better person because of my experiences here."
