ELF x Sports Metrics Top 100 Graded Players - Explained
In the coming month of April, we will be releasing the top 100 graded players of the 2024 season according to sportsmetrics. The grades reflect the individual's performance on the field.
Grading System for Players and Teams
SportsMetrics Grades evaluate both individual players and teams based on their performance in a single game as well as the entire season. The grades are designed to provide an accurate and comprehensive assessment of a player’s performance in different categories such as passing, rushing, receiving, defense, and kicking. Each category is further divided into player positions, such that each player’s performance is evaluated against other players in the same position. The grades are designed to be scalable for different player positions, meaning that a linebacker’s performance is compared to other linebackers in each category.
Weighted Metrics
Each category in the SportsMetrics grading system sets different weights on statistical in-game metrics. These metrics are then weighted based on their importance to the category to provide an accurate evaluation of a player’s performance. This ensures that the grading system is fair and objective, and the players’ performance is evaluated based on the metrics that matter the most in each category.
Comparison and Scaling
To compare and scale the teams’ and players’ performance, SportsMetrics Grades use a specially fitted sigmoid function. This function ensures that the grades are scaled appropriately, and the players’ performance is evaluated accurately based on the metrics in each category. The stats are compared with the overall distribution of league performance in each category and then weighted by the category weights.
Limitations
While SportsMetrics Grades provides an accurate and unbiased evaluation of the players and teams, it has some limitations. Currently, it is technically not possible to rate offensive line players accurately. Thus, those players were rated by expert opinions. Additionally, the ratings for defensive backs should be read cautiously, as the best defensive backs may not have the best numbers since quarterbacks try to avoid throwing in their direction.

"It's been really fun" - first milestone for Nordic Storm
Nordic Storm are facing an exciting first season in the European League of Football. Storm quickly developed into a new force. Although the squad has already been strengthened with well-known players such as MVP Glen Toonga and Championship Game MVP Jadrian Clark, some questions remain.
How will Storm perform, how will the home games go, how many fans will come? After all, around six months after the club was founded, there are many premieres to come. Many processes are new and need to find their way.
This also applies to the first workouts - this milestone has now been taken. For the first time in the history of the young franchise, the players came together on the training pitch. “We're all new, and it's been really fun and a lot of hard work as we chart a path forward,” says John Shoop, first head coach of Nordic Storm history. The experienced coach knows what it's like to join a new team. Nevertheless, the new situation has surprises in store: “The most impressive thing about this team has been the player's work ethic. We've set a strong tempo and all members of our team are working incredibly hard.”
However, the first session was exclusively for the Homegrowns. From April 7, the E- and A-imports will also be allowed to join practice. This also applies to all other ELF teams.
But there are still a few weeks and training sessions left. Storm will play their first ELF game on May 18th, 1pm CET in the LIDL-Arena, Will Switzerland against the Helvetic Mercenaries. Their first home game will follow on June 01, 1pm CET against Berlin Thunder.

The top ELF off-season moves of March
The new European League of Football season is getting closer, with the first games kicking off on May 17. Over the past month, many teams have made big signings to strengthen their rosters. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest moves from March.
New weapons for Clark
Nordic Storm has added more firepower to its offense, giving quarterback Jadrian Clark new targets. Wide receiver Brendan Beaulieu joins from the Potsdam Royals after winning the German Bowl last season. He will take the team’s receiving corps to a top level.
Another big signing is Adrià Botella Moreno, considered the best tight end in the ELF and a multiple-time All-Star. For him, this is a reunion with Clark, as both played together for the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2021.
Playmakers for the Raiders
The Raiders Tirol made four key signings in March, strengthening both offense and defense. Wide receiver Jacorey Sullivan will be a top target for quarterback Connor Miller, bringing big-play ability to the team. Alongside him, homegrown star Tobias Bonatti has re-signed after an impressive season. Bonatti is one of the best running backs in the ELF and will add versatility to the offense.
Defensively, the Raiders added two athletic playmakers. Aaron Maddox and Dijion Walls are known for their ability to create turnovers. This American duo in the Raiders’ defensive backfield will be a nightmare for opposing offenses.
NFL experience for the Galaxy
Frankfurt Galaxy made strong additions on both offense and defense. Running back Sandro Platzgummer returns to the team after spending time in the NFL with the New York Giants. He will be a key piece in helping the Galaxy bounce back from a disappointing 2024 season.
On defense, Frankfurt signed Channing Stribling, a proven leader. Stribling played college football at Michigan and has been part of five different NFL teams. He also showed his skills in the UFL and CFL. His experience will be crucial in strengthening the Galaxy’s secondary.
College power for the Vikings
The Vienna Vikings used their last A-spot to sign defensive back Dennis Amani. Amani played college football and gained experience in the CFL and USFL. In 2019, he even attended the Cleveland Browns’ mini-camp. He will team up with Divine Buckrham to challenge opposing quarterbacks.
On offense, the Vikings added Victor Stoffel to their offensive line. The Swedish lineman played for Temple University and the University of California, Berkeley. Now, he returns to Europe to help the Vikings in their quest for the ELF Championship.
Offensive support for the Surge
Stuttgart Surge has been very active in the off-season, re-signing many key players while also adding new talent to their defensive line, secondary, and linebacker group.
Wide receiver Daniel Pedro, a 2024 German Bowl champion with the Potsdam Royals, will be a key target for quarterback Reilly Hennessey. He brings strong stats and championship experience.
In the backfield, Stuttgart added another playmaker in running back Tomiwa Oyewo. Oyewo impressed last season with the Munich Ravens and will now look to make an impact for the Surge in 2025.
A strong March for the ELF
With these signings, many ELF teams have taken big steps toward their goals for the 2025 season. With just a few weeks left until kickoff, fans can look forward to an exciting and competitive year of football.Don't miss a single game - Get your Game Pass now!

Raiders bring back homegrown star
Tobias Bonnatti is back in black as the Raiders Tirol extended the contract with one of the league’s best homegrown running backs. On the offensive end the Surge have also signed Albert Wiesigstrauch. Wiesigstrauch comes to southwestern Germany after spending the past 4 seasons with the Berlin Thunder.
The dangerous kick returner and running back had his best season last year, with 11 touchdowns and 851 yards from scrimmage last season, split almost evening between receiving and rushing.

Nordic Storm bring in last import
Nordic Storm has announced their latest import for the coming season. The young franchise from Copenhagen has signed Emmanuel Falola.
The 27-year-old Briton joins the Storm's linebacker group. "Looking forward to playing in Copenhagen and giving my best every day for the City,” says Falola. The British player joins a number of promising signings who make Storm look like a new force even before their first season in the European League of Football. Potential that Falola also sees: “I believe in the team and coaches that have been put together, and I am excited to be a part of it. I love to play football and I love to win. I am excited to do this in the great city of Copenhagen. Go Storm!!!”
Falola already knows the league. He joined Rhein Fire last season. He appeared in two games as a substitute for the current ELF champions. Emmanuel Falola was selected in the CFL Draft
His impressive physical skills and explosive tacklings caught the attention of NFL and CFL scouts. This resulted in him being selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League draft.

Nordic Storm - A new force with familiar faces
With a new article series on our website, we want to introduce all of the sixteen European League of Football franchises for the 2025 season and what they are made of. For its fifth season, the ELF welcomes an exciting new contender: the Nordic Storm. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the team aims to become a powerhouse in European American football, bringing together some of the best talent from the region and the continent of Europe. With an experienced coaching staff, high-profile international signings, and ambitious goals, the Nordic Storm are ready to make waves in their inaugural season starting this May.
A-Imports - Former Rhein Fire QB Jadrian Clark takes over
One of the biggest moves for the Nordic Storm was securing quarterback Jadrian Clark, a name well-known across the ELF. Clark, the 2023 ELF MVP, played a pivotal role in leading the Rhein Fire to a championship and is now tasked with orchestrating the Storm’s offense. His deep understanding of the game, combined with his leadership skills, makes him the perfect signal-caller for a team looking to make an immediate impact as a new franchise.
Another major American addition is safety Luke Glenna, an All-Star defensive back who has made a significant impact in the ELF. In his debut season with the Barcelona Dragons in 2023, he led the league with 137 tackles and secured four interceptions, earning First-Team All-Star honors. The following year, playing for the Madrid Bravos, Glenna continued to excel, further establishing himself as a defensive powerhouse. His addition to the Nordic Storm brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in bolstering the secondary.
E-Imports - ELF rushing leader Glen Toonga
Alongside their high-profile American imports, the Nordic Storm have invested in elite European talent. In the backfield, the Storm boast another elite import in running back Glen Toonga. Toonga, the 2024 ELF MVP, arrives after dominating with the Rhein Fire, where he was a key piece of their title-winning squad. His explosive running style and ability to break tackles will be essential for establishing a strong ground game, taking pressure off Clark and giving the Storm a balanced offensive attack. And do not forget that Toonga and quarterback Jadrian Clark build on a long relationship as teammates together at Rhein Fire for the past two seasons.
On the defensive side, the team has brought in defensive back Chad Walrond, formerly of the Stuttgart Surge. Walrond is known for his speed, agility, and ability to shut down opposing receivers, making him a key addition to the secondary. Joining him is defensive back Exavier Edwards, an ELF All-Star and 2022 champion with the Vienna Vikings. Edwards brings championship experience and defensive versatility, ensuring that the Storm’s defense will be well-equipped to handle even the most potent passing attacks.
Homegrown Talent - Former Sea Devils WR Theodor Landström
The Nordic Storm are committed to developing local talent from Denmark and Sweden, integrating players who embody the spirit and potential of Nordic football. Among the standout homegrown players is wide receiver Theodor Landström, a Swedish talent known for his precise route-running and reliable hands who formerly played for the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2024. Alongside him is linebacker Emil Hovde, a Danish native whose aggressive playing style and defensive instincts make him a key part of the Storm’s defense who played for the Berlin Thunder in previous years. Another exciting prospect is wide receiver Edwin Almeida, a Swedish speedster who brings agility and versatility to the team’s offensive unit. Together, these players represent the foundation of the Nordic Storm’s commitment to fostering regional talent from Sweden and Denmark while setting the goal high to compete for a spot in the playoffs in 2025.
Another notable signing is center Joachim Christensen, a three-time ELF All-Star. Christensen, who initially retired from professional football, has decided to return and reunite with his former teammates Clark and Toonga. His experience and leadership will be crucial in solidifying the offensive line and providing stability for the Storm’s offense as a homegrown player.
A coaching staff with NFL and ELF experience
Leading the charge on the sidelines is head coach John Shoop, a well-respected name in American football. With over two decades of coaching experience in the NFL and college football, Shoop is no stranger to developing talent and building competitive teams. His recent success in the ELF includes guiding the Munich Ravens to a 7-5 record in their inaugural 2023 season and working as the quarterbacks coach for the Rhein Fire in 2024. His expertise will be invaluable in shaping the Storm’s identity on the field.
Assisting Shoop is defensive coordinator Brandon Noble, a former NFL player and experienced coach. Noble previously served as the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2024, where he helped build a formidable defensive unit. His knowledge of defensive schemes and player development will be key in ensuring that the Storm’s defense can compete with the best in the league.
Season objectives - Aiming for playoff contention
The Nordic Storm have set ambitious goals for their first few seasons in the ELF. While immediate championship aspirations may be a stretch, the organization has made it clear that they aim to be regular playoff contenders in the future. With a well-structured roster, an experienced coaching staff, and a clear vision for success, the Storm are looking to establish themselves as one of the league’s premier teams.
For their debut season in 2025, the primary objective is to be highly competitive from the start, making a statement against more established teams. By leveraging their mix of seasoned imports and local talent, the Storm hope to build a strong foundation for future success.
With the combination of elite players, a knowledgeable coaching staff, and a city eager to embrace the sport, the Nordic Storm could very well become one of the most exciting teams to watch in the ELF. Football fans across Europe should keep an eye on this rising powerhouse as they prepare for their first season in the league.

Hjalte Froholdt - From NFL star to ELF ambassador and Nordic Storm co-owner
Hjalte Froholdt, an accomplished NFL center currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals, has embarked on a new journey by becoming a co-owner of Nordic Storm, the latest franchise in the European League of Football (ELF). For Froholdt, this move signifies more than an investment; it is a way to give back to his homeland and promote the sport that has shaped his life.
Froholdt’s football journey
Born in Svendborg, Denmark, Froholdt's path to football stardom was unconventional for a European player. His talent was first recognized during a high school exchange year in Ohio, where he excelled as a defensive lineman. This exposure earned him a scholarship to the University of Arkansas, where he transitioned to offensive line, showcasing his adaptability and determination.
After a standout college career, Froholdt was selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His professional career continued with stints at the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns before joining the Arizona Cardinals. Despite the challenges of competing at the highest level of American football, Froholdt’s resilience has made him a respected figure both on and off the field.
Giving Back to Danish Football
Froholdt’s new role with Nordic Storm is deeply personal. As one of the few Danish players to reach the NFL, he understands the importance of nurturing talent in his home country. His involvement with Nordic Storm aims to inspire the next generation of Danish athletes to pursue football and believe in their potential.
By establishing a strong franchise in Copenhagen, Froholdt is creating opportunities for local players to develop their skills and compete internationally. The ELF’s growing prominence offers a platform for Danish players to shine, and Froholdt’s leadership ensures they have the resources and mentorship necessary for success.
A new era for Nordic Storm and Danish Football
Nordic Storm, debuting in the 2025 ELF season, represents a new era for Danish football. Froholdt’s vision extends beyond competitive success; he aims to foster a culture of growth and inclusivity. The team’s roster already features local talent, such as Oliver Tribler and Mathias Roll Hummelmose, reflecting Froholdt’s commitment to prioritizing Danish athletes.
The team is led by head coach John Shoop, whose experience complements Froholdt’s ambitions. Together, they aim to position Nordic Storm as a competitive force in the ELF while acting as a beacon for aspiring football players across Scandinavia.

More importantly, his involvement signals a growing trend of professional athletes using their platform to give back and grow the sport in underserved regions.
By combining his professional experience with his passion for Danish football, Froholdt is not just a co-owner but a builder of a legacy. His journey serves as a reminder that success in sports can create opportunities far beyond the playing field.

Jadrian Clark explains blockbuster move to Nordic Storm
Quarterback Jadrian Clark caused a real shock this offseason. Together with League MVP Glen Toonga, the 30-year-old left Rhein Fire - even though both were crucial in helping the German team to two ELF championship titles in a row.
Rhein Fire and their fans were hoping for the possibility of the first three-peat in ELF history in the European League of Football. Clark's and Toonga's departures temporarily crushed those hopes. Meanwhile, the team has responded by signing All-Star Chad Jeffries as Clark's successor.
During the new weekly interview format “ELF - One on One”, the US American explains the reasons behind his surprising move.
Clark: "I have nothing but great memories"
“The last three seasons I had with Rhein Fire was something really, really special,” Clark introduces. He adds: “I appreciate the coaches, my teammates, the fans, and I have nothing but great memories to look back on, especially winning two championships in a row. That was really special.”
Clark attributes a large part of this success to his quarterback coach John Shoop. He also left Rhein Fire after the season to become the first head coach in Nordic Storm history.
Coach played major role in Clark deal
“I knew that there would probably be some chances that he might become a head coach somewhere with his amazing resume,” remembers Clark. As a farewell gift, Shoop presented an opportunity: “And after the season, once he told us guys, I really appreciate my time with you, and I'm going to be heading to Copenhagen. If any of you would like to explore a possibility of coming with me, I would really be interested in entertaining that conversation.”
Although he had briefly thought about it, a departure after two championships in a row also seemed rather absurd for the US import. “But the more I looked into it and the more I sort of just evaluated the situation,” explains Clark.

Copenhagen charmed Clark
“Coach Shoop is someone that I have a really close relationship to. Obviously with him being my quarterback coach and being such a former NFL off of the coordinator and head coach in the league already”, says the Qb.
In addition to Shoop, other old friends await Clark: “Glenn wanting to stay with me and then Joachim Christensen my former center, being from Copenhagen, his dad being the general manager of the Nordic Storm. Everything came together, and it ended up being a no-brainer for me.”
The city of Copenhagen, where Nordic Storm will play its home games, also impressed the football star. Clark says: “Copenhagen being to me the best place I've ever been to. It's a place I traveled about three, four years ago to and absolutely fell in love with and always joked if there was a team in Scandinavia, I would hop on that.”

Mailbag Monday - We answer YOUR questions!
As we move deeper into the off-season it means we are even closer to kicking off the 2025 season. The next season will be the European League of Football’s fifth season as it looks to keep growing year after year.
Recently there have been a flurry of player and coach signings, as well as major media announcements, including the ELF’s new deal with DAZN. Let’s chat about it all below!
DAZN questions:
Many fans have asked about the logistics of the new 8-year deal that the ELF signed with DAZN. There will be more details to come which will explain how the ELF Game Pass will be integrated with DAZN’s platform both from a pricing and content side of things. In short, stay tuned for more DAZN and ELF details to come.
Babayaga707M: Is there a ELF Combine? Or do you recruit players?
Great question here from an even better username. Many teams will run their own combine’s in order to see not only homegrown players from the area, but also players from different European countries and even those that have flown thousands of miles for a shot in the ELF. Team’s will continue hosting their own tryouts and combine’s throughout the off-season as they hope to fill up their roster prior to training camp.
Rampagequomony5: What country will the ELF expand to next?
Fans have been wondering about this one for a while! This year many fans were surprised as the Nordic Storm joined the league as an expansion franchise. Many have speculated that major European cities such as London, Dublin, Amsterdam, and others would be good fits due to their massive populations. The league will likely look to continue to grow in 2026, however this year’s teams are set.
Jules_bnf: When can I buy a match ticket?
This was certainly my favorite question of the bunch. The full ELF schedule is available to block out your calendar’s. Some teams have begun selling tickets on their website’s while others will follow soon.
Most importantly, the biggest game of the ELF season, the 2025 Championship in Stuttgart does have tickets available and has already sold more than 10K tickets.
