ELF Honors: All winners are named - Glen Toonga is MVP 2024

Ahead of the 2024 championship game, special protagonists of the season are awarded at the ELF Honors.

Three players or coaches were previously nominated for each of the 16 categories.

You can find an overview of all the award winners here in our live ticker.

9.15 pm: Man of Honor of the Year - Vikings Aleksandar Milanovic

Aleksandar Milanovic also had a fantastic season, earning a spot on the 1st Team All-Pro as an offensive tackle, but the Man of Honor of the Year award is about much more than that. This award recognizes a player who has shown exceptional character, sportsmanship, and contribution both on and off the field. The winner is a role model, making a positive impact in the community and the sport. Milanovic embodies these values. For several years, he has worked as a teacher at a school in a disadvantaged area, where he started a flag football program and coaches the school team at tournaments. He also made an impact on the field. After the game between the Vienna Vikings and the Fehervar Enthroners, Milanovic stayed behind with two Enthroners offensive linemen and coached them.

9.08 pm: Most Valuable Player 2024 - Fire Running Back Glen Toonga

When you break records and are nearly unstoppable, you deserve the MVP title. Glen Toonga had an outstanding 2024 season with 1,576 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns. He was by far the best in both categories and set a new record for rushing touchdowns in a single season. With his impressive performance, Toonga beat out fellow nominees Zach Edwards from the Paris Musketeers and Kyle Kitchens from the Berlin Thunder.

9.02 pm: Coach of the Year - Vikings Head Coach Chris Calaycay

After two nominations for Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, Chris Calaycay has now won the award for Coach of the Year. Calaycay has been with the Vienna Vikings for 20 years, consistently leading the Austrian franchise to success. This year, the Vikings once again proved their dominance, going undefeated throughout the season. Since joining the ELF in 2022, the franchise has only lost two regular-season games, highlighting Calaycay's dedication and passion, which he passes on to his team, leading them to success.

8.58 pm: Assistent Coach of the Year - Fires Richard Kent

Every good head coach also needs a good staff full of excellent assistant coaches. Rhein Fire defensive coordinator Richard Kent is one of them. Kent formed a strong defense that allowed the third-fewest yards and the fewest points in the league during the regular season. He is also responsible for the second-best passing defense and seventh-best against the run. An important component on the way to the Championship Game.

8.53 pm: Homegrown of the Year - Mercenaries Jonathan Falk

Homegrowns are an important part of the identity of the European League of Football. It is always a special feeling when a domestically trained player achieves great success for his franchise. Helvetic Mercenaries Jonathan Falk knows exactly how that feels. The linebacker recorded incredible 146 tackles (second most of the league), 11.5 of which were for loss. He also had two sacks, a pass break up, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. The list is long. What a season for the Swiss superstar.

8.48 pm: Rookie of the Year - Mercenaries Milan Spiller

There are the rookies with the biggest impact on offense. There are the rookies with the biggest influence on defense. And there are the rookies with the biggest influence on their entire team. This year, that was Milan Spiller for the Helvetic Mercenaries. The wide receiver wasn't just part of the offense, he was a huge star of the team right away. Spiller played in all 12 games, catching 63 passes for 1008 yards and five touchdowns.

8.42 pm: Offensive Player of the Year - Musketeers Zach Edwards

What a season for the Paris Muskeeters. They made the playoffs and almost reached the final. Without quarterback Zach Edwards, that probably wouldn't have been possible. The dual-threat was impressive through the air and on the ground. Edwards threw 207 passes for 3057 yards and scored 34 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. Values to keep up with the best signal callers in this league. But that's not all. The 26-year-old also ran for 792 yards and eight touchdowns on 120 attempts - phenomenal. Edwards is also nominated for MVP.

8.39 pm: Defensive Player of the Year - Thunders Kyle Kitchens

The ELF has many good defensive players, but only a few break records. Berlin Thunder defensive lineman Kyle Kitchens is one of them. With 16.5 sacks, he broke his own sack record from 2022 by 0,5 sacks - extraordinary. He also made 52 tackles, including 25 for loss, one interception, one pass break up and four forced fumbles. Kitchens also recovered two fumbles and carried one of them back for a touchdown. This puts the defensive monster ahead of Mercaneries Jonathan Falk and Panthers linebacker A.J. Wentland, who set a new tackles record.

8.37 pm: Special Teams Player of the Year - Panthers Devan Burrell

Get a strong special team and you directly improve your winning chances. Devan Burrell is the definition of a good special teams player. The returner has speed, agility and sees gaps and he scores. Surrounded by good blockers, Burrell delivered incredible stats. The US import returned 18 punts for 222 yards, an average of 12.33 yards per attempt. He even returned one punt for a touchdown. Incidentally, he also achieved this trick with three Kickoffs. So a total of four special team touchdowns for the 29-year-old. He returned a total of 18 Kickoffs for 670 yards. What a weapon for the Wroclaw Panthers.

8.27 pm: Defensive Rookie of the Year - Mercenaries Pierre-Yves Majo

The season also presented a new star on defense. Rookie and defensive tackle Pierre-Yves Majo from the Helvetic Mercenaries showed the opposing quarterbacks and running backs that he is not to be joked with. The 23-year-old Swiss had a fantastic year, playing a total of twelve games, six as a starter. In these, he made 39 tackles, including 16 for loss and seven sacks. He also had one forced fumble and one pass break up.

8.23 pm: Offensive Rookie of the Year - Vikings Noah Touré

Every season also got his rookies. And every season, some of them already have a good impact on their team. Vikings Noah Touré is surrounded by playmakers. But that hasn't stopped the 22-year-old wide receiver from showing that he can become a real star in this team just in his first season. Touré was on the pitch in eleven of all twelve regular season games. He caught 50 balls for a total of 836 yards and eight touchdowns. What a great first season.
