Wildcard Recap: Paris Musketeers win high-scoring nail-biter
What a start to the postseason! In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Paris Musketeers have defeated the Munich Ravens 40-37. In a game packed with highlights, both offenses and special teams delivered points for days. A total of ten (!) lead changes offered a lot of excitement, with Paris coming out on top, thanks to a defensive stand on the last drive of the game.
The teams wasted no time getting into it, scoring on their respective opening drives to start the game. It was going to be a competitive game, with lots of scuffles and a few injuries along the way.
Both the Ravens and Musketeers had a return touchdown on kickoff, as Austin Mitchell (Paris) weaved his way through the special teams defense of the Ravens just before halftime and Jon Cole (Munich) answered in the second half.
Ravens head coach Kendral Ellison was visibly frustrated with the performance of the special teams at halftime: "We have to get better there. We practiced that and that's not good", he told "ProSieben MAXX". In the second half, the Ravens regularly kicked the ball out of bounds and accepted the penalties (the Musketeers were allowed to start at their own 40-yard line).
Meanwhile, both defenses struggled to contain the offenses. Ravens quarterback Chad Jeffries spread the ball around to six different receivers, completing 24 out of his 27 passes for two touchdowns. On the ground, the Ravens were able to rush for 234 yards, with 126 coming from running back Tomiwa Oyewo.

The Musketeers relied on a balanced offense, were able to run the ball well with 144 yards and quarterback Zach Edwards was able to dissect the Ravens in the short passing game. He completed 23 of his 30 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.
In the end, the Musketeers made a few mistakes less, thus continuning their playoff run. The Ravens are now eliminated.
In an interview with "ProSieben MAXX", wide receiver Austin Mitchell said after the game: "Its a big thing to be in the Semi Final. We are going to take it one game at a time. We are very confident. I am not trying to go home."
"When you score 37 points and not win, it is a tough pill to swallow. This loss will take some time to get over it. But maybe, it can be fuel to the fire for next season", wide receiver Lorenz Regler said in an interview with "ProSieben MAXX" after the match.
