Vienna Vikings sign wide receiver Radim Kalous

The former German Bowl champion and CFL Combine Invitee will make his way to Vienna.

The reigning champions are upgrading their offense even more. After the team announced that Championship Game MVP Kimi Linnainmaa won’t return to the team to spend time with his newborn child, the Vikings found another promising and talented European wide receiver in Radim Kalous.

Czech receiver playing throughout Europe

Kalous started his career with the Pardubice Bucks in the Czech Republic, before joining city rival Pardubice Stallions after just one season. During his three seasons with the Stallions, Kalous developed into one of the most promising talents in all of Europe, winning the U19 Czech Player of the Year award in 2017.
Kalous spent a season in Canada at Royal Imperial college, before joining the Wroclaw Panthers for the 2019 season. In 2020 the Czech wide receiver made his way to Germany, signing with the Dresden Monarchs, where he played a big role in the Monarchs’ German Bowl triumph in 2021.

With 63 catches for 783 yards and 12 touchdowns, Kalous was a key piece alongside Darrell Stewart Jr and now Berlin Thunder receiver Robin Wilzeck in the teams’ title run. The 25-year-old suffered a knee injury during the 2022 season, cutting his campaign short.
Now the 2022 CFL Global Combine participant will play alongside Weston Carr and Jordan Bouah to form a deadly trio for the reigning European League of Football champions.

“I want to help the Vikings win it all again.”

The German Bowl champ is excited to join the Vikings:

“There is a lot of reasons I chose the Vikings over offers from other teams. They have a great Coaching staff, lots of talent on their roster and another big reason was the fact that the whole organization knows what it takes to be a Champ. Every single person in the organization knows what it takes to win it all, that’s exactly what I was looking for.”

Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay has nothing but praise for his new pass catcher:

"Finding an European import of Radim‘s caliber this late in the recruiting phase is rare. He is a player that performed at a Championship level in Dresden and he will be the last import piece for our new offense. We are looking forward to have him with us in Vienna."

Kalous himself has high expectations for the upcoming season:

“The goal is pretty clear, outside of getting better as a player next to all these ballers, I want to help the Vikings win it all again and become the first team in ELF to go back-to-back.”
