Top Matchups to watch in Week 14

Week 14 in the European League of Football features several marquee matchups to watch across the seven games scheduled. Many of these matchups are vital for thiier teams as playofs and playoff positioning are on on the line the last week of the regular season!

Let’s take a look at the three matchups that stand out this weekend.

Raiders DB Devin Taylor vs Ravens WR Malik Stanley

The secondary will be relying heavily on Taylor this week as he will match up with arguably the Ravens most explosive weapon in receiver Malik Stanley. Since joining the Ravens on June 22nd the veteran pass catcher has put up 715 yards and 10 touchdowns. If Taylor and the Raiders can contain Munich’s primary target in the passing game, they should leave Bavaria with a massive win.

Musketeers QB Zach Edwards vs Frankfurt's LB Hugo Dyrendahl

It has become well known this season that Musketeers quarterback Zach Edwards has been phenomenal rushing the ball this season. The league’s second leading passer also currently sits fifth in the league in rushing. If “Magic Zach” can continue running the ball and punishing the second and third level of defenses with his athleticism, look for Paris to earn a road win and a home playoff game after a victory in Frankfurt.

Surge’s WR Louis Geyer vs Mercenaries WR Milan Spiller

Yes i know what you are thinking…receivers don’t match up against each other?!? However Saturday's game will feature two of the best receivers in the league as Milan Spiller has a chance to become the first European receiver to ever reach the thousand yard mark in ELF history. The Swiss talent only needs 73 more yards to make it happen.

Geyer on the hand, is 220 yards from the thousand yard mark, but could also be the league’s leader in receiving touchdowns for the season as he sits at 12 receiving scores, one behind Vikings receiver Reece Horn, who finished the regular season last week.

The Raiders WR Cinque Sweeting vs Munich’s Secondary

Sweeting had another big game last week for the Raiders proving he can be a go to guy for Perry. He’ll need to make a big play or two against this Munich defense if the Raiders want to seal up a playoff spot. Expect Ravens to focus several of their key players on him in this one as they hope to contain the do it all slot receiver.

The Raiders backfield v Munich’s LB Wael Nasri

The Raiders love to run the ball, whether it be with their star running back Tobias Bonatti who hopes to return from injury, or young Lucas Haslwanter who is also in the league’s top ten as far as rushing yards. Add N’Kosi’s Perry’s ability to run and Tirol's offensive identity is built on running the ball. The Ravens and middle linebacker Wale Nasri match up well with the third best run defense in the league. If Munich can stop Tirol’s rushing attack, they should be celebrating a victory in front of their home fans.
