The Wroclaw Panthers extend linebacker AJ Wentland

The Wroclaw Panthers have extended linebacker AJ Wentland too a two year deal. The defensive player of the year candidate finished the 2024 season as the league leader in tackles for 166, 20 more than the next closest player.

Wentland was the cornerstone of the Panthers defense this year putting together nearly 14 tackles a game, along with 4.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 4 forced fumbles, 2 blocked kicks, 5 pass break ups and one interception.


The 29-year old originally joined the Panthers in 2023 halfway through the season where he finished third in tackles with 112, despite only playing in nine games, earning him a spot as a first team 2023 ELF All-Star.


Wentland played for the Leipzig Kings in 2022 after a long european career playing for the Dresden Monarchs, Kuopio Steelers, and Swarco Raiders. The former Division II All-American From McKendree State is excited to be back in Poland with newly extended head coach Craig Kuligowski.
