Leipzig on the roll: Kings sign German tight end Philip Eichhorn
After signing All-Star player and former Barcelona Dragons defender Myke Tavarres, the Kings improve their offense by adding an ultra-athletic tight end!
The Leipzig Kings sign German tight end Philip Eichhorn to their team for the 2022 season, as reported by the franchise.
“I want to play in the European League of Football because I want to compete at the highest level in Europe. We saw some good football in their first season, and it will be even better this year”, Eichhorn commented on his decision to sign with the Kings. He added: “[…] I want to be part of this and help to grow the sport of American football in Germany!”.
After Eichhorn recorded 28 catches for 294 yards and two touchdowns for the Marburg Mercenaries, the German tight end was nominated for the German National Team. Now, the athletic tight end will join the Kings in the European League of Football.
“After talking to [head] coach Armstrong, I directly knew that I want to be a part of the Kings and in the end he made this possible. When I was in Leipzig for the first time, they directly made me feel like I never played somewhere else, they take care of their people and this is something really important for me”, Eichhorn compliments the Leipzig franchise.
When asked about his first season on the highest level of American football in Europe, Eichhorn touched on his goals for 2022: “[…] I already know some of my future teammates. We got some great talent and hard workers on the team. Also, some players who you can look up to like A.J. Wentland, one of the best defensive players in Europe”. He added: “We also got some of the best coaches in the league to prepare us for the upcoming season. This mix will make us a dangerous opponent!”.
