Leipzig Kings sign former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Steve McShane
New player coming in for the Leipzig Kings’ backfield!
The Leipzig Kings have signed Steve McShane at running back for the 2023 season in the European League of Football. Having played for the Western Illinois Leathernecks and visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers Minicamp in 2019, the US-American will change how the Leipzig Kings will play their offense this season. After the release of Fred Armstrong as head coach, John Booker, former offensive line coach, will take over in 2023. In McShane, the Kings could have a versatile weapon who can take a role as slot receiver returner and running back, giving Booker options.
“Steve brings a ton of versatility to our team. In college, he was all conference in both football and baseball, which is extremely rare on the Division 1 level. In football, he excelled as a returner, receiver, and runner, accumulating around 4,000 all-purpose yards. He possesses the suddenness and explosiveness to consistently make the first man miss. We look forward to seeing him have an impact in multiple phases of the game for us this season,” is Booker quoted.
At just 1,72 m and with a weight of 84 kg, McShane is shifty and fast enough to make a difference, while his signing results in wide receiver Seantavius Jones not being extended.
On offense, the Leipzig Kings have now signed quarterback Kenyatte Allen, who led the GFL in touchdowns last season, and players like Noah Bomba, Kélian Mouliom and Luis Moreno as receivers. Other signings include AJ Wentland, linebacker, Asland Zetterberg, defensive tackle, or Devan Burrell, safety.
