Championship Game: Top matchups to watch
As in every game, there are key matchups between position groups in the 2024 ELF Championship that could decide the outcome. Let’s take a look at the matchups to watch in this year’s title game.
MVP Glen Toonga has been unstoppable this season averaging over 130 yards a game. The Vikings will have to contain the league’s best running back if they hope to win the ELF championship today. Expect Toonga and the Rhein Fire offensive line to bring their "A game" against Vienna’s defense. The Vikings will need DROY nominee Nicholaus Terlitza as well as defensive tackle Thomas Schaffer and others to play their best game of the season against a gifted Fire offensive line and Glen Toonga.

The Vikings' biggest strength is in their passing game, and just before the semifinals, they reactivated two strong receivers: Jordan Bouah and Kimi Linnainmaa, from IR. Star receivers such as Reece Horn and Noah Toure will have to win with consistency against top defensive backs such as Omari Williams, Marloshawn Franklin, and Till Jansen. If Horn can continue to hot-streak and Toure can stretch the field with big plays, look for Ben Holmes to have an excellent day passing the ball.
Fans will be treated to an excellent matchup of the two of the European League of Football’s best passers in the Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes and Rhein Fire's QB Jadrian Clark. For Ben Holmes, this is his first championship game in Europe as he wraps up his first international season. Clark on the other hand is entering his third title game in the ELF alone having first come over to Europe back in 2016. We’ll see how these two quarterbacks rise to the moment of what could be the best championship yet.
