Zach Bronkhorst: "We got to take accountability"

For the second year in a row, the Milano Seamen lost their first home game since joining the ELF in 2023. While the defense showed glimpses of unpredictability, getting pressure on opposing quarterback D’Angelo Fulford, the offense was not able to put points on the board - ending in a 0-32 loss. For Zach Bronkhorst, quarterback of the Seamen, week one hasn’t been as exciting as expected. "We just work on all the basics. The defense played a heck of a game. We left them out to dry, put them on the field for too long!" Bronkhorst commented after the game.

"We just go to execute better"

Switching up offense and defense in the off-season, the Seamen are still not where they want to be. Bronkhorst, new to Europe, learned that wins in the ELF are not gifted. "Coach Ward’s defense did a great job of getting us the ball, and we just got to execute better. It starts upfront, it starts with me, starts with the receivers. We all just got to take accountability for this one, put it on us."

For the US-American, now it’s all about week 2 against the Munich Ravens, also home in Milano. "Come ready to attack on Monday, learn from it. We have the talent to make something out of it, and say: this isn’t got to happen again."
