William Patterson has become one of the most recognizable names in the European League of Football. The 2025 season marked his third year in the league - and once again, he proved to be a difference-maker for his team.

Making an instant impact in Rhein Fire

Patterson joined Rhein Fire in 2023 as a mid-season replacement for injured wide receiver Nathaniel Robitaille. What was supposed to be a short-term solution quickly turned into a breakthrough. In just six games, Patterson recorded over 500 receiving yards, 30 catches, and six touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the ELF.

Versatility and leadership in Madrid

His breakout year earned him a move to the Madrid Bravos, where he became one of the franchise’s key leaders. Patterson’s versatility shone through - not only as a wide receiver but also as a rusher and even a quarterback in crucial moments. In Madrid’s debut season, which ended in a Wildcard Round appearance, Patterson delivered across all areas of the game.

He finished the 2024 campaign with 272 rushing yards and one touchdown on 31 carries, while catching 64 passes for 869 yards and five touchdowns. As a returner, he added 427 yards and one touchdown, further proving his all-around value.

Leading the turnaround in Prague

When Bravos offensive coordinator Dave Warner took over the Prague Lions, he knew exactly which player could help transform his new team’s offense - and Patterson followed. His arrival in Prague coincided with one of the greatest turnarounds in the team’s short ELF history.

The Lions finished the 2025 season with a 7-5 record, narrowly missing the playoffs but earning their first winning season. Patterson was again a central figure, contributing 548 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 58 carries, while also catching 57 passes for 754 yards and nine touchdowns. On special teams, he was electric, returning the ball for 465 yards and three touchdowns.
