Week 9 MVP Race
Week nine of the European League of Football season caused major shakeups in the MVP Race:
While the gap between Jadrian Clark and the competition shrunk a little due to his bye week, the Rhein Fire is still far ahead of anyone else in the MVP race. Clark is set to break the single-season passing touchdown after the Week 10 bye, and is still on pace for more than 50 passing touchdowns on the season.
Markell Castle had the chance to come closer to Jadrian this weekend but, while still playing well, his three catches for 35 yards and 1 TD are not enough to solidify himself as #2 in the MVP race. But despite a performance that was not up to his high standards, Castle is still 175 receiving yards ahead of any other receiver and also has 12 touchdowns to his name, keeping him in this spot for at least another week.
Tony Tate once again showed that he is the most efficient player in this league, recording 88 yards and three touchdowns on just four receptions. His three-touchdown performance elevates the Panthers’ dynamic playmaker one spot compared to last week. Turbo Tate is now only one touchdown shy of the single-season record of 17 set by Kyle Sweet in 2022.
After his bye week, Aaron Jackson is dropping one spot on this list. But the wide receiver/ returner is not far away from the front-runners, having the third most receiving touchdowns (11) and ranking seventh in receiving yards (662), while also leading the league with 1071 return yards. The all-purpose monster has been going at it for the Thunder this season and could make a late push towards the top of this list.
Devan Burrell is a newcomer on this list. Not only has the American proven to be a great safety, but he might just be the best returner the European League of Football has ever seen. Burrell already recorded 1061 return yards along with two punt and kick return touchdowns each, tying Justin Rogers single-season record four return TDs. Add in great defensive performances and three interceptions, and you got yourself one of the most dominant and electrifying players in the league.
