Week 13 Takeaways – Musketeers get hot late, Vikings escape first loss

There was a lot going on in the European League of Football this week! But what are the takeaways?

Week 13 of the regular season is in the books. Clear-cut wins and thrilling fourth-quarter endings were all part of the past weekend. But what are the major takeaways before the league head into the final week of the regular season?

Paris Musketeers are getting hot late

The Paris Musketeers around quarterback Zach Edwards and 2022 triple-crown winner Kyle Sweet are getting hot at the end of the season! After starting with several losses in the first half of the season, the Musketeers finally managed to come together and slowly but surely maximize the potential on their talented roster. In Week 13, we were witnessing a vintage performance by quarterback Zach Edwards who pulled of five touchdown passes, no interceptions and close to 100 rushing yards against his former team, the Barcelona Dragons. If the Musketeers manage to keep this squad together, they could really do some damage in 2024!

Vienna Vikings almost ruin their perfect season

What just happened? The Vikings almost lost their first game of the season against no other than the Fehérvár Enthroners. And I write that sentence with great respect for the Hungarian franchise. American quarterback Kevin Dolye Jr. and his squad put everything into this game with touchdown passes by wide receiver Martin Jr. and running back Rathonyi. Dolye Jr. even caught one of those passes in the endzone himself. It makes sense for the Vikings to slow down a little bit and save up some energy for the playoffs. But I truly believe they would have never guessed that this game could end with a final score of 21-20.

Stuttgart Surge officially complete the turnaround

The Stuttgart Surge started their European League of Football journey with some struggles. After only winning two games in 2021, the Surge fell to no wins at all in 2022. But their 0-12 record last season initiated some changes in the coaching staff and in the front office of the Surge that now look like the best decisions an ELF franchise has ever made. With head coach Jordan Neuman taking over, the Surge now beat the Tirol Raiders in Week 13 and with that clinched the Central Conference title. What an incredible story!
