Week 13 Power Ranking – Raiders fall, Enthroners rise

Let's see where I rank all the teams before Week 14!

After Week 13 is in the books, the third European League of Football season gets closer to the playoffs with only one week remaining in the regular season. Let’s see where I rank the teams before Week 14 kicks off!

Another week, another dominant win. I write that down in this ranking for almost every week. But that’s just the truth.

Previous: 2

The Vikings escaped their first loss of the season with a very close game against the Fehérvár Enthroners. By just one point, the Vikings escaped a would-have-been trap-game. I keep them at two because of their overall strength, but they have to develop the right mindset to prevail in the playoffs.

The Frankfurt Galaxy took care of business with a win over the Hamburg Sea Devils. They solidified their status of a top three team in this league going into Week 14.

Previous: 4

The Stuttgart Surge really did it. After going 0-12 last season, they have now clinched their first-ever spot in the playoffs and are champions of the Central Conference with a 9-2 record. I can’t wait to see what they will do in the playoffs!

Previous: 6

The Panthers had a bye week but move up one spot because of the loss by the Raiders. This is the first top five appearance of the Panthers in my ranking, but I believe they deserve this status after their late additions in the season and their steady grind in every game.

Previous: 7

The Berlin Thunder, just like the Panthers, move up one spot because of the loss of the Raiders against the Surge last weekend. They can clinch a playoff spot with a win against the Sea Devils at home this weekend. Will they use their chance to get into the playoffs for the first time ever?

Previous: 5

The Raiders find themselves at 7-4 and out of the playoffs because of the better point differential by the Wroclaw Panthers and the Berlin Thunder. I have to rank them at seven at this point because the experiment of swapping your starting quarterback mid-season and losing one of the best offensive weapons in Jarvis McClam in one move did not work out well. New quarterback Joe Dolincheck has thrown for six interceptions but only three touchdowns and 563 yards while winning only one of his three outings. Does that look like an improvement compared to Christian Strong who managed to get the Raiders to a 6-2 record while throwing for 17 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in eight games? I don’t think so.

The Munich Ravens are still alive! With a win in Week 14 against the Dragons and losses by the Raiders, Thunder and Panthers, the Bavarian franchise is technically still alive and in the hunt for a playoff spot. But will they get the help they need from other teams to get a ticket for the postseason?

Previous: 9

The Paris Musketeers dominated the Barcelona Dragons this past weekend and looked just like I thought they would at the beginning of the season. They needed some time to get up to speed, but now they look as dangerous as can be. But this come-up was just too late to get into the playoffs. However, they have a chance to finish their season strong against the Cologne Centurions.

Previous: 10

The Hamburg Sea Devils did what they could have done but eventually lost to a better opponent. The Frankfurt Galaxy were just too much for the Sea Devils at his point. But does the Hanseatic franchise have one last game in them to keep the Thunder out of the playoffs in Week 14?

Previous: 11

The Helvetic Guards, just like the Sea Devils, lost against a better opponent this past weekend. Rhein Fire seems to be too strong for every franchise, not only the Guards. They stay at eleven just like last week!

Previous: 12

Let me describe the Seamen in their first ELF season for you. Great offense, no defense! Just like this past weekend against the Ravens, quarterback Luke Zahradka produces highlight plays and keeps his team in the game. But the Italian defense is one of the weakest in the league and heavily struggles to defend the pass. Let’s see what they will do in their last regular season against the Raiders!

Previous: 13

The Cologne Centurions had a great game against the weakest team in the ELF, the Prague Lions. I know they dominated them, but I still have to keep the Centurions where they are because of the strength-level of their opponent.

Previous: 15

When you get as close to a win against the top three team as the Fehérvár Enthroners did on Saturday, you deserve to at least move up one spot. It’s as simple as that. I know it was a trap-game for the Vikings, but the Enthroners played their hearts out which is just phenomenal to see.

Previous: 14

Another week, another loss? Since the end of June, the Barcelona Dragons were not able to win a single game. After starting 2-0, the Spanish franchise faces a lot of questions marks going into the offseason after making it to the playoffs last year. And did I mentioned they just got destroyed by their former quarterback Zach Edwards and wide receiver Kyle Sweet who now play at the Musketeers?

Previous: 16

The Prague Lions were dominated by the Cologne Centurions in Week 13. I believe they can develop into a franchise that is competitive in this league. But all the setbacks they have faced throughout the season made life difficult for the Czech franchise.
