"We want to go with a bang" - Aleksandar Milanovic and Vikings still hungry after perfect season

The Vienna Vikings finished the 2024 regular season undefeated. And that back-to-back. The team already achieved a perfect regular season last year.
The clear 46:0 victory over the Fehérvár Enthroners in Week 13 was just one of impressive twelve wins. Even though the record is the same, this season felt fundamentally different, revealed offensive tackle Aleksandar Milanovic.
"With the new offensive coordinator came a new idea that we had to get used to. This year we were an offense that didn't work so well at the beginning. The defense really saved our lives. When a lot of the defense players got hurt at the end of the season, then the offense saved us", said the Vikings' offensive captain.
However, this should not diminish the performance: "As a team, we managed to draw the final line in all three areas. And we're happy about that."

Head coach Chris Calaycay is also excited about what is on paper a perfect season so far: "So satisfied with the guys and what we did this season, not only today, but this entire season, going week in and week out and battling through with the long season. No bye-weeks. Now our bye-weeks are coming up, which is a good thing for us, allows us to get some player back", he told Vikings media.
In week 14 of the regular season the team have another bye week.

"The bye-weeks are a blessing and a curse at the same time"
Aleksandar Milanovic is also going into the bye week with a smile: "I've never played eleven games in a row in my life. The week off before the game against the Enthrones was already very important. All in all, it's very nice that we can get everyone back."
However, the experienced tackle also warns to be careful: "The bye-weeks are a blessing and a curse at the same time. If you don't play football for three weeks, you need a great level of professionalism and experience to avoid a bad surprise in the playoffs."
He believes that his team is ready: "We always want the highest level of quality in training. No matter who comes in the playoffs, we are at home and excellently prepared. I am confident that we will be successful. I wish for it, we all wish for it."
The Vikings experienced a bad surprise last season when they lost 40:33 to Stuttgart Surge in the semi-final after a perfect regular season. This year they might want a different result.
For Aleksandar Milanovic and his teammates, the final would be a special football game: "Having the opportunity to play in Gelsenkirchen in this arena would be fantastic. It would be the last game of the season, and we want to go with a bang."
