"We're not done yet" - Reactions from 2024 Championship Game

A dominant 51:20 victory over the Vienna Vikings crowned Rhein Fire the first back-to-back champions of the European League of Football.

The game was full of excitement, just like the Veltins Arena at Gelsenkirchen, where 41,364 fans celebrated a big football party.

Reactions on the game:

ELF commissioner Patrick Esume: "Congratulations to Rhein Fire and Head Coach Jim Tomsula. They played great football and absolutely deserved to win. Both teams were nervous at the start, but Rhein Fire quickly found their feet and put on a great show. A huge thank you goes to the fans who created a spectacular atmosphere. It looked like a small Super Bowl and was an advertisement for our sport in Europe."

Rhein Fire head coach Jim Tomsula: "I'm just really proud of my team. We stayed hungry after winning the title last year and worked incredibly hard again this year. It's a great feeling that we've been rewarded and it's a special quality to defend the championship. I don't want to talk about individual players, it was an outstanding team effort."

Vienna Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay: "It wasn't our day, it wasn't our game. We made too many mistakes, conceded too many unnecessary penalties, conceded too many big plays. Rhein Fire was the better team, we have to accept that. Nevertheless, my team played a great season. We will learn our lessons, invest even more and come back stronger."

Fire Quarterback Jadrian Clark on German TV station "ProSieben": "It felt like a home game for us today. We expectet a closer game, Vienna is a talented team. Everything was clicking for us today. The defense got some early turnovers. Pretty everybody was involved in offense, it was so awesome. Calvin is one of the best route runners, who ever played in Europe. There is never enough in my mind. We found a way baby. We gonna keep this thing rolling and find a way to come back. We are not done yet."

Rhein Fire Offensive Coordinator Andrew Weidinger on "ProSieben": "It was fun against Stuttgart when it was thrilling until the last second. Bit it was also awesome today. Our goal today was to score 50 points. I didn't expect it to be so easy today. We're a great team and we just attacked the Vikings weaknesses today. Our gameplan just worked. I don't know who is going to stop us. At the beginning of the season we were trying to stop ourselves. But there is more beauty in the struggle. We just fought our way through."

Kasim Edebali on "ProSieben": Simply pure emotion. It's great to see. Look at the scenery. This is football in Europe. It's awesome. I know so many guys who play here, I know how much heart and soul is put into this.”
