Louis Geyer, Stuttgart Surge's homegrown wide receiver, was the top receiver on the field in Saturday's game against the Madrid Bravos. Despite strong defensive attention from Madrid, Geyer caught four passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

When asked why he and the team have been performing so well lately, the 24-year-old said in an interview with German TV channel ProSieben MAXX after the game: "We're just doing a good job. The coaches put us in situations to succeed. I show up when my number is called, and I'm happy to be put in these positions. The team is doing an amazing job, and it starts with the coaches."

Whenever Geyer has the ball, his determination to score can be seen. He explained in the interview: "We have one word - 'vertical'. When you have the ball, go straight ahead. Of course, you have to know roughly where straight ahead is, but just plant a foot and, even if a defender is right there, gain a yard in the right direction - that's all that counts. So, whenever I have the ball, just vertical. I tried it and it worked, but even on a screen - that's not really my job, I just run straight - if there's a gap, it's thanks to the O-line and the receivers blocking for me. It's a true group effort."

"We're very ready"

With today's victory, the Surge are one step closer to the Championship Game, which will take place in their home city of Stuttgart this year. They need just one more win to reach the final. Next Sunday, they will travel to Munich to face the Ravens, who finished the regular season with an 11-1 record, earning a first-round bye.

For Geyer, the team's focus is entirely on Munich: "I'm only thinking about Munich. We can't waste a single thought on the - right now, it's all about Munich. We've lost to them before, and it's really the best thing that we now get a chance to go to Munich again. We're ready, we're excited for this week, and we're fired up. This is our final now, and we're very ready."

Fans can expect an intense semifinal clash with the atmosphere of a regional rivalry between the two teams from southern Germany. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, August 31st, at 15:00 CET.
