Vikings stay unbeaten against Raiders

The Vienna Vikings proved once again that they remain unstoppable in the “Battle of Austria.” With their 44-38 victory over the Raiders Tirol, the Vikings bounced back from their Week 6 loss to Rhein Fire and solidified their place at the top of the East Division standings.

The Vikings came out strong in the first half, scoring on every drive and building a 30:15 lead by halftime. The Raiders struggled early, including throwing a costly interception that gave the Vikings excellent field position and allowed them to extend their lead.

Raiders fight back, but Vikings hold on

Both teams faced some challenges at the start of the second half. However, the Vikings managed to widen the gap late in the third quarter. The Raiders launched an impressive comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, scoring 24 points in the second half. Despite their effort, they couldn’t close the gap enough to change the outcome.

Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes had a standout game with five touchdowns. His favorite target on the day was star tight end Florian Bierbaumer, who finished with 7 catches for 80 yards and three touchdowns.

Looking ahead

The Vienna Vikings improve their record to 5-1 and will next face the Prague Lions in Week 8 - a team currently riding a four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, the Raiders Tirol, now 4-3, will face another tough opponent in Week 8 as Rhein Fire travels to Innsbruck.
