Vikings re-sign Vito Millauer and Linus Gantar for two more years!
The Vienna Vikings have locked up two more Homegrowns to the franchise for the long term. Defensive lineman Vito Millauer and defensive back Linus Gantar each signed a new two-year contract.
Millauer has been part of the Vikings since they entered the league in 2022. He became ELF champion with the team in 2022 and has already appeared in 32 games in three years. In these games, the defensive end recorded 28 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and two sacks. He was also part of the special teams.
Head coach Chris Calaycay is pleased to be able to continue working with Millauer: “We are happy that Vito goes into his 4th season as a Viking. His experience and continued improvement adds to the already deep defensive line group that we have here in Vienna.”
Linus Gantar was signed mid-season by the Vienna Vikings in 2023 after winning the Austrian Bowl with the Danube Dragons. The 25-year-old safety quickly integrated into the team. Since then, he has played 16 games in Purple & Gold and recorded 35 tackles and five pass deflections.
"Linus is an important piece of our secondary for the upcoming season”, explains Calaycay. He adds: “He has shown multiple times that he can play as a starter in the European League of Football. And we look for him to build off of his first full season in the ELF in 2024.”
The defensive players join numerous Vikings deals this offseason. The team from Austria has already presented a total of 26 contract extensions and signings.
