Vikings re-sign Starter Niko Huszar

The Vienna Vikings extend their contract with the next star of their defense. Cornerback Niko Huszar signs a new two-year contract.

"I’m very happy to be back for another two years. We got some unfinished business, and I’m looking forward to getting that settled with my brothers in the coming seasons", the player says.

The Homegrown is therefore entering his fourth ELF season. Huszar spent all three of his previous ones with the Vikings, with whom he even became champion in 2022.

Head coach Chris Calaycay knows Huszar since the cornerback played in the Vikings' youth teams. The experienced coach is therefore very happy about the deal: "Niko has been with us as a starting corner since the foundation of our franchise and has been a cornerstone of our secondary and on the edge since day one. For sure, he is one of the most underrated home-grown players in the entire league, as he has been a true playmaker for us. We are really excited to have him for the next two years."

Huszar started eight games last season. He played a total of eleven for the Vikings. Overall, he plays an important role in the Vikings defense. In his three seasons with the team, Huszar played 39 games in which he collected 119 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions and an impressive 22 pass deflections.
