Vikings extend with talented linebacker Noel Swancar
The Vienna Vikings are continuing to work on their squad for the upcoming season. Linebacker Noel Swancar signs a new three-year contract. The team is keeping another homegrown player for the long term.
Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay can therefore welcome back another important player next season. "Noel came in and showed the potential that he has and performed at a high level in his first full year in the European League of Football," said Calaycay.
The coach adds: "He missed a few franchise games because he was the captain for the U20 National Team winning the bronze medal at the world championship. Now, we can’t wait to get him for a full season in 2025. He has an incredibly high ceiling as a linebacker for the Vienna Vikings over the next 3 years. No doubt, he is one of the best young LBs in Europe."
"I'm really looking forward to spending the next 3 years with the Vikings and playing for my hometown Vienna. Playing together with all my teammates, who I can call brothers, really means a lot to me and I couldn't imagine any other team where I feel as comfortable and welcome as I do here in Vienna," Swancar comments on the deal
He has clear goals for the future: “My goals for the upcoming seasons are very clear to me. I want to get much better at what I do and continue to develop every week. I also want to be a big part of the Vienna Vikings defense in the coming years. I want to prove to the entire European League of Football that even a 20-year-old from Austria can more than keep up with the big boys in the ELF.”
Swancar is ready for next season: “I expect to have a championship-capable team here in Vienna again next year and I'm looking forward to spending time with my teammates.”
