Vienna vs Stuttgart: More than 30,000 tickets sold

The leading roles for the highlight of the year in European football have been assigned! The Vienna Vikings and Stuttgart Surge have qualified for the 2025 Championship Game of the European League of Football on September 7 (kickoff: 3 p.m.) at VfB Stuttgart’s MHP Arena. More than 30,000 tickets for the big ELF final have already been sold in advance.

"We are celebrating European football"

“Congratulations to the Vienna Vikings and Stuttgart Surge. The semifinals were the perfect appetizer for the Championship Game. The best teams on the continent will battle for the crown. Fans in Stuttgart can expect a sporting highlight and a fantastic supporting program. We are celebrating European football,” said ELF CEO Zeljko Karajica.

The Vienna Vikings, champions in 2022, are in the final for the second year in a row. Last year, they lost to Rhein Fire (20-51) in front of 41,364 spectators in Gelsenkirchen. Now, Head Coach Chris Calaycay and quarterback Ben Holmes are once again reaching for the title. On Saturday, the “Vikings” defeated Nordic Storm 28-20.

“I told the team right after the game that we are not done yet. We will use the week to prepare physically and mentally for the Championship Game. We’ve had a great season, but the biggest challenge still lies ahead,” said Calaycay.

"It is very special to play the final in our city"

The Vienna Vikings will face Stuttgart Surge, who fulfilled their dream of a “finale dahoim” (final at home) with a 27-13 semifinal victory over the Munich Ravens. For Head Coach Jordan Neuman and quarterback Reilly Hennessey, it will be their second Championship Game appearance after 2023. Back then, the Swabians lost to Rhein Fire (34-53) in front of 31,500 spectators in Duisburg.

“I am proud of my team, which withstood the pressure. We worked extremely hard and were rewarded for it. Of course, it is something very special and unique to play the final in our city. The Vikings are tough opponents, but we will do everything we can to take that last step,” said Neuman.

Fans can look forward to a football weekend of the highest order: On Saturday, the Family Experience Day with numerous attractions for the whole family will take place, and before the Championship Game on Sunday, the Power Party will kick off. For the first time, the ELF will feature a spectacular halftime show: hip-hop legends "Die Fantastischen Vier" will perform a mini-concert right in the Cannstatter Kurve. Ticket sales are running at full speed: more than 30,000 have already been sold.
