Vienna Vikings part ways with offensive coordinator John Shannon

The Vienna Vikings have parted ways with offensive coordinator John Shannon, as the franchise announced on Thursday. Head coach Calaycay and the experienced offensive mind mutually agreed on not spending the rest of the season together, but rather Calaycay taking over as offensive coordinator and bringing in another great football mind. "Today I will be announcing that Coach John Shannon and the Vienna Vikings will be mutually parting ways for the remainder of the 2023 season. I would like to thank Coach for his tireless work, dedication to the job, being our offensive coordinator and part of our franchise. I wish Coach Shannon the best." head coach Chris Calaycay said.

New energy before the playoffs?

With Max Sommer, the Vikings and Calaycay have found his direct Consultant, who is also the head coach of the Austrian national team. Since 2008, Sommer is working as a coach for different teams, but mainly for the Graz Giants in youth and senior football. For the Vikings, bringing in new ideas before the playoffs could bring new energy at the right time.
