Vienna Vikings extend All-Star Receiver Reece Horn

The Vienna Vikings continue to hold on to their stars. Star wide receiver Reece Horn is also staying with the Vikings for another season. This is the team's sixth contract extension in a very short space of time.

"Reece Horn is just one of those players who just produces week in and week out. He knows this team and the community here in Vienna. He has committed himself to the game and it shows every time he puts on the Vikings uniform in the European League of Football. We are looking forward to having #17 back here in 2025", says Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay about the extension.

Horn is also happy to stay in Vienna: "I cannot thank the city of Vienna and the entire Vikings organization enough for this opportunity." He adds: "I am super excited to be back in Vienna in 2025 and pick up where I left off as a collective, a team but also as an individual. My goals and aspirations are as always being the best player and person I can be - both on and off the field. I dont care what anybody says, the Vikings are the best team in Europe from the top down. We will put a great product on the field in 2025."

Horn has a special message for the fans: "To all the fans and my teammates & coaches: you are getting an absolute beast and i am working my butt off this off-season. To the city of Vienna: Thank you for welcoming me and my entire family with open arms. We will be working hard to bring back the title to Vienna. I can not picture a better place to continue my football career."

Cornerstone of the offense

Last season, Horn was quarterback Ben Holmes' favorite target. Out of 104 targets, the US import caught 75 passes for 1165 yards. That makes Horn the ELF receiver with the third most receiving yards. He also caught 13 touchdowns. Horn therefore played a major part in the team's successful season. The Vikings did not lose a single game in the regular season. They were only beaten by Rhein Fire in the championship game.

Horn spent his first two years in the ELF with the Frankfurt Galaxy. Here he was an absolute top performer too. He then moved to the Vikings for the 2024 season, where he had his best season statistically.

In addition to Horn, the Vikings recently extended the contracts of a lot of key players of last season like Offensive Rookie of the Year Noah Touré, quarterback Ben Holmes or linebacker Noel Swancar.
