Top Homegrowns of Week 5
Felix Pahl

Week 5 of the European League of Football showed once again how important local talent can be. Several homegrown players stepped up with standout performances to help their teams win big games. From explosive runners to game-changing defenders, here are some of the best homegrowns of the week.
Running backs lead the way
The first highlight of the weekend came early, as Wrocław Panthers running back Dawid Brzozowski delivered another top performance. His 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries were key to a dominant Panthers offense. His mix of power and agility helped open up the playbook and overwhelmed the Centurions' defense in a big win.
A strong rushing game was also vital for the Raiders Tirol, who scored three rushing touchdowns in their win over the Madrid Bravos. Leading the charge was Lukas Haslwanter, who ran for 128 hard-earned yards and a touchdown. Just like Brzozowski, Haslwanter’s ability to move the chains on the ground helped his quarterback find rhythm through the air and made life easier for the Raiders’ offensive play-calling.

Ravens shine on both sides
The Munich Ravens had a dream start in their game against the Helvetic Mercenaries, forcing turnovers on the first four Mercenaries drives and scoring touchdowns off each one. On offense, wide receiver Jannik Nowak stood out with 71 receiving yards and two touchdowns on four catches. He was a reliable target for both starting QB Russell Tabor and backup Levin Adrom, who came in early in the second quarter.
On defense, the entire Ravens unit played at a high level, but outside linebacker Dominik Schmid was the standout. The 25-year-old was everywhere on the field — he had 6 tackles, 1 pass breakup, an interception, and even forced a fumble. His all-around impact was a perfect example of the Ravens' team effort and dominance.
Game-sealing pick-six
The matchup between the Fehérvár Enthroners and Berlin Thunder featured homegrown quarterback Máté Hegedüs for the Enthroners. While the Thunder controlled most of the game and led 21–3 at halftime, the Enthroners kept fighting back. In the fourth quarter, they cut the lead and had a chance to make things interesting.
That’s when Jonas Gacek stepped up. The Berlin defensive back read a pass perfectly and returned it for a pick-six, ending any hopes of a comeback. His clutch play sealed the win for Berlin and earned him a spot among the top homegrowns of Week 5.
From powerful rushing attacks to game-changing plays on defense, local talents across the league made a major impact in Week 5. With performances like these, it’s clear that homegrown players are more than ready to take center stage in the ELF.
