Toonga out: Homegrowns take over at Nordic Storm
Florian Puth

2024 MVP Gleen Toonga is out for the season. This means that Nordic Storm has lost one of its most important players. Anyone who thinks that this will drastically weaken the offense is clearly mistaken. Since his injury after the first half of Week 1, the team has scored a total of 106 points.
They secured high-scoring wins against the Helvetic Mercenaries (56:12), Wroclaw Panthers (40:21), and lately Berlin Thunder (35:0). But who scores the points?
The focus is clearly on the homegrown talent of the team from the north. Running back Anton Witmeur has racked up 197 yards and one touchdown so far. This puts the Dane in seventh place in the league in terms of yards gained. Together with Alexander Kennedy Chaanhing (Swede), who has gained 142 yards and even two touchdowns, he forms a strong homegrown RB duo that has replaced Toonga well so far.

Nordic Storm and his strong HG O-Line
They are supported by a strong homegrown offensive line. They give their quarterback Jadrian Clark time and their running backs space. No wonder Nordic Storm scored the third-most rushing yards and receiving yards. Center Mikkel Hansen also caught the first touchdown in franchise history.

The team's best receiver is A-import Brandon Beaulieu (395 yards, six touchdowns), followed by E-import Adria Botella with four touchdowns. However, homegrown players like Simon Føns (167 yards), Jakob Green (150 yards), and Jonathan Nielsen (three yards but one touchdown) also contributed to the team's success.
Nordic Storm shows that even when the big stars are out, homegrown talent can make a big difference on offense.
