Tomiwa Oyewo joins Stuttgart Surge: a new challenge ahead
Felix Pahl

Tomiwa Oyewo has made a big move in his football career. The talented running back has joined Stuttgart Surge, a team that has played in the ELF finals and semi-finals. For Oyewo, the decision to join Stuttgart was not easy because his previous team and Stuttgart were rivals. However, after talking to the coaches and understanding their vision, he knew it was the right choice.
"I felt like Stuttgart had all the right pieces, and maybe I was that missing piece they needed," Oyewo said.
Not about the money – a feeling of belonging
Many teams were interested in signing Oyewo, but Stuttgart Surge felt like the best fit for him. He made it clear that money was not the reason for his decision.
"It wasn’t even the money or anything that really played a part in it. It just honestly felt right," he explained.
One of the key factors that convinced Oyewo was the strength of Stuttgart's offensive line. He was impressed by how well they worked together.
"Every position can work alone, but the o-line really has to work together. This is an o-line that has been playing together for years. It’s a real unit, a real brotherhood," he said.
Exciting season ahead – tough opponents waiting
Oyewo is excited for the upcoming ELF season and looking forward to facing strong teams. He especially wants to play against Paris, a team that eliminated his previous team in the quarterfinals.
"Paris is going to be fun, especially in Paris. Last year we lost against them in the quarterfinals, so I still have a bit of a grudge," he admitted.
He also sees Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Hungary as serious competitors and is eager to play against them.
"Every team this year is much better than last year. I think every game will be a great challenge," he said.
A new mindset – playing with no fear
Oyewo has a new mindset for the 2024 season. He will wear the number 0 jersey, and for him, it has a deep meaning.
"I’m taking number 0 this year, not because it’s flashy, but for what it stands for: zero doubt and zero fear. I want to play with no doubt, no fear. When I put on that jersey, I tell myself: you put in the work, trust God, and do your thing," he explained.
With this mindset, a strong team around him, and a clear goal in mind, Oyewo is ready to make a big impact with Stuttgart Surge in the 2024 season.
