Tomiwa Oyewo: A versatile weapon ready to dominate

Tomiwa Oyewo is known for his versatility on the field. Over the years, he has played both as a wide receiver and a running back, but he has a clear preference.  

"I like getting the ball straight from the quarterback, reading my blocks, and getting upfield. That is what I am meant to do and what I feel I am best at," Oyewo explained.  

His ability to catch passes also makes him a dangerous weapon in the offense. "Catching out of the backfield is one of my strengths. When I go up against linebackers, I feel like I have an advantage because of my background as a wide receiver," he said.  

A strong team around him  

Oyewo believes that his success also depends on the players around him. He is excited about Stuttgart Surge’s offensive line and how well they work together.  

"You are only as good as your o-line. Having a good one makes all the difference," he said.  

The chemistry in the team is another important factor. He feels that the team is well-prepared and ready to give their best. "We have great tight ends, receivers who are willing to block, and an offensive line that has been working together for years. It’s a real brotherhood," he added.  

Growing as a player – learning from challenges  

Oyewo’s journey has not always been easy. He has faced challenges, including injuries, but he sees them as learning experiences.  

"Last season was a learning curve for me. It allowed me to show my versatility and taught me what it means to dig deep. I had to push myself," he said.  

Despite setbacks, he remains confident in his abilities. "When I combine my 2023 season with my 2024 season, I honestly believe I am the most dominant running back in the league," he stated. This mindset has shaped his approach for the new season. He has developed a strong mentality that focuses on overcoming doubts and fears.  

"I want to play with zero doubt, zero fear. You put in the work, trust God, and do your thing," Oyewo said about his motivation for 2025.  

With his skills, determination, and a strong team around him, Oyewo is ready to take on new challenges and make a big impact for Stuttgart Surge.
