Assistant coach of the year candidate returns
Daniel Auböck was nominated as an assistant coach of the year leading the Vikings defense that finished second in the ELF in yards and points given up. Auböck has been leading the Vikings defense since they joined the ELF helping them achieve an impressive 36-4 record since 2022.
"I am beyond excited to be back with the Vikings for another season and continue to build on what we started 4 years ago. Continuity will always be our main priority and biggest strength. We believe in us and our guys, nothing will ever change that!:
:We as Vikings have plenty of unfinished business going into 2025 and as always, a huge chip on our shoulder. Our schedule is filled with the best that Europe has to offer. This is why we are here: to prove our worth every given week. As an entire organization we are looking forward to renewing decade old rivalries and to take the next steps in establishing new ones. Great battles await. With the support of our loved ones and our fans this team won ́t be denied."
Proven track record
Last season Auböck's defense led the ELF with 43 sacks, while also finishing second in yards allowed per game, giving up only 270 yards a game. The Vikings finished 6th in turnover differencial in the ELF causing 18 total turnovers with 11 interceptions and 7 fumble recoveries.
Head coach Chris Calaycay is thrilled to have Auböck back:
"Our defense has been headed by Daniel Auböck for the past three seasons in the European League of Football and always finished within the top three in the league. This consistency continues with his extension, and we look forward to another strong year of Viking defense under his leadership.”
Auböck will have some new players to help him out this season as the Vikings have signed defensive back Divine Buckrham, and still have one more American import spot and several European import spots left to use.
