Hennessey praises Surge: "This team is unbelievable"
Felix Pahl

Stuttgart Surge quarterback Reilly Hennessey was emotional after leading his team to the ELF Championship. In an interview with "First Down Magazine", he praised the unity of the squad that carried them to victory in Championship Game 2025.
A team effort
"This team is unbelievable. I mean what’s propelled us the last six weeks is just always having each other’s back," Hennessey said. "Whether it’s offense having the defense, defense having the offense, special teams making plays when they need, and I thought today was exactly that."

Home-field advantage
Playing in front of more than 36,000 fans in Stuttgart made the win even more special. "This was a home field advantage, you heard how loud that was and the false start on the last drive was just proof of that."
More than just football
Hennessey also reflected on the bigger picture of his journey with the Surge: "I was asking myself the same thing: Why can’t I get it done? And to be honest, it’s not a me thing - that’s what you saw out there. I didn’t play my best football today, but just to be part of something for the last three years and to build those relationships, that’s what you saw here. You didn’t just see a great football team schematically. You saw a team that loves playing with each other, loves practicing together, loves getting pizza after practice on Friday nights together - that’s what you saw."
