The Prague Lions re-sign important D-Line trio

The Prague Lions have extended the homegrown basis of their defensive line. The Czechs Jakub Smutný, Jan Starý and Marek Daník will also be seen in the red jersey next season.

Daník is already entering his third season with the Lions. He has already played 22 ELF games for the team, 12 of them as a starter. The 27-year-old has made 72 tackles, including 14 for loss and one sack. “Every new season is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get, but I am all in,” Daník comments on his extension.

Cornerstones since 2023

Jan Starý is also a familiar face in Prague. And the 28-year-old has also been a Lion since 2023. Since then, he has become an absolutely core part of the D-line. He started 18 of his 21 ELF games, making 52 tackles, including 18.5 for loss and seven sacks.

"It's time to show the league and everyone how relentless we are. We’ve been through tough times, but we continue to evolve and improve every year. I can’t wait to step on the field with my brothers again and fight for Lions Pride!”, explains Starý.

Jakub Smutný forms the last Czech pillar of the D-line. The 28-year-old also joined the Lions in 2023. Since then, he has also been an absolute fixture. In 19 games, he collected 80 tackles, including 21.5 for loss and three sacks. “I am ready and Lions are ready to go 1-0 every game!”, says Smutný.
