The Nordic Storm’s championship climate?

The ELF’s newest team the Nordic Storm have made quite an entrance to the league the past few weeks. Just more than a month after being introduced at the ELF championship game the Scandinavian squad has been dominating the headlines of the off-season.

Building the foundation

The Storm announced their first coach in franchise history will be John Shoop. Shoop was most recently the quarterbacks coach of the Rhein Fire in 2024. Prior to that he spent 20 years coaching in College football and the NFL.

Maybe his best experience to prepare him for Copenhagen/Mälmo would be his 2023 gig as the head coach of the expansion Munich Ravens. There he led the brand new franchise to a 7-5 record in their first ever season.

2 MVP’s

The biggest move of the off-season has certainly been the Storm signing quarterback Jadrian Clark and running back Glen Toonga from the Rhein Fire. The 2023 and 2024 MVP’s have been the league’s best at their position in the league both breaking several records during the past two seasons in Düsseldorf.

Now they embark on a fresh challenge to build something special with a new team.

The Rhein Fire connection

Shoop has not been shy about going after players from his former team, signing quarterback Jadrian Clark and running back Glen Toonga. But there is more to the story as the Storm have also signed former All-Star center Joachim Christensen, who last played with Clark and Toonga with the Fire in 2023. They have also signed ex-Rhein Fire defensive end Max Parkinson.

A loaded secondary

With all the attention on Glen Toonga and Jadrian Clark its easy to forget tow major moves that the Storm have made to bolster thier defense. The first of which was signing defensive back Chad Walrond who is coming off of an excellent season with the Stuttgart Surge.

To compliment Walrond the Storm have also added former ELF all-star and 2022 ELF champion Exavier Edwards who joins the Nordic team after three seasons with the Vienna Vikings.

Nordic talent begins to arrive

It didn't take long for some of the best football players form Sweden and Denmark to begin sgning with the Nordic Storm. The Storm have already secured Joachim Christensen, a 3X ELF all-star offensive lineman, luring him out of retirement. On top of that Ludvig Myren a ELF veteran defender signed with the Storm. Danish receiver Simon Føns also joins the Storm after a fantastic season in the German football League. Other homegrowns such as Jakob Green, Matthias Roll Hummelmose, Alexander Kennedy Chaanhing, and Oliber Tribler have also joined the team.

Overall the Storm have made the most noise this off-season as they seem to have all the ingredients necessary to attract some of the league’s most notable talent.
