The Nominees for the Assistant Coach of the Year Award

Not only is the final getting closer, but so are the ELF Honors, where players and coaches will be recognized for their performances in the regular season across 11 different categories.

Although any assistant coach can win the award, this honor goes to the best assistant coach of the season. The recipient has shown outstanding leadership, strategy, and support, significantly contributing to the team's success.

Let’s take a look at the nominees for the Assistant Coach of the Year award:

Vikings Defensive Coordinator – Daniel Auböck

Daniel Auböck is the defensive coordinator for the Vienna Vikings and is responsible for their defensive tactics. The Vikings had an outstanding season, remaining undefeated and performing well in every game. Statistically, they were also impressive. The Vikings’ defense ranked fourth in both passing and rushing defense, and second in total yards and points allowed. Daniel Auböck’s tactical intelligence and playcalling were key to the success of the Vikings' defense.

Fire Defensive Coordinator – Richard Kent

Rhein Fire also impressed again this season. In the tough Western Conference, they were crowned Conference Champions. Only the Madrid Bravos managed to defeat Rhein Fire, but otherwise, they were too strong for their opponents. While the offense, led by Glen Toonga, was impressive, it was the Fire’s defense that made sure opponents couldn’t keep up. They had the 7th best rushing defense and the 2nd best passing defense. Thanks to Richard Kent’s playcalling, the Fire defense allowed the 3rd fewest total yards and the fewest points in the entire league.

Vikings Offensive Coordinator – Max Sommer

The Vikings also shone on offense. Under Offensive Coordinator Max Sommer, their offense was dominant. While they ranked only 8th in rushing, they were 1st in passing and total yards, and had the 4th best scoring offense. His playcalling and tactical preparation were crucial to the Vikings’ undefeated season.

On September 21, the winners of the awards will be announced at the ELF Honors.
