The Nominees for Offensive Rookie of the Year
Not only is the final getting closer, but so are the ELF Honors, where players and coaches will be recognized for their performances in the regular season across 11 different categories.
Any offensive player born after September 22, 2000, and in their first ELF season is eligible for this award. This award is given to the best first-year offensive player. The winner has made a big impact on the field, showcasing great skills, effort, and potential throughout the season.
Let’s take a look at the nominees for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award:
What a season it has been for the Vikings, who went undefeated. In addition to experienced leaders, young players and especially rookies stepped up. The Vikings had some bad luck with injuries, especially at the wide receiver position. With Jordan Bouah and Kimi Linnainmaa out for a while, Noah Touré delivered week after week and ended up in the top 10 for both receiving yards and touchdowns. Overall, Touré caught 50 passes for 836 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Spiller also had a fantastic year. Although the season wasn’t very successful for the Mercenaries, Spiller continued to show his potential. He became the first European wide receiver to record over 1,000 receiving yards, setting a new benchmark. Along with Pierre-Yves Mayo, Spiller is the second rookie nominated for a Rookie Award. In total, Spiller caught 63 passes for 1,008 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Though Fuchs didn’t reach the same numbers as Spiller or Touré, the 19-year-old running back showed his potential throughout the regular season. On 50 rushes, Fuchs gained a total of 218 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. He also demonstrated his abilities in the passing game, catching 4 passes for 23 yards. Fuchs helped the Centurions finish with a 6-6 record, their best season so far.
On September 21, the winners of the awards will be announced at the ELF Honors.
