Surge sign talented RB Tomiwa Oyewo

Stuttgart Surge recently presented their entire offensive line with twelve signings. It is therefore more than fitting that they have now signed a new running back. Tomiwa Oyewo will wear the Surge jersey next season.

“I really admire the team's work ethic and culture and want to help leave a legacy here,” says Oyewo. He adds: “What motivates me is the opportunity to push my limits, be part of a community and inspire others through our successes on and off the pitch.”

Good running back - even better pass receiver

The 25-year-old Irishman has already played two years in the ELF - both for the Munich Ravens. He played a total of 23 games for the team from Bavaria. He hit the ground running in his first season in the league in 2023. With 14 touchdowns, he scored the most in the entire ELF. He also had over 1,000 rushing yards.

In his second, Oyewo “only” managed 353 rushing yards, but still managed over seven yards per attempt. “Tommy” was the team's enforcer and scored eight touchdowns. He was also used remarkably often as a pass receiver. He caught a total of 40 passes for 551 yards and nine more touchdowns.

Before the RB began his career in the European League of Football, he gained six years of playing experience in Ireland. From 2015 to 2021, he was under contract with the South Kildare Soldiers. He then moved to Germany in 2022, where he played for the Allgäu Comets in the GFL. In 12 games, he scored an impressive 852 total yards and 6 touchdowns.

Stuttgart Surge fans can therefore look forward to a strong addition to their offense.
