Stuttgart Surge did it. After a : victory over the Munich Ravens, the German team has once again booked its ticket to the European League of Football Championship Game, following their 2023 run. And this time, it will take place in their home city.

A huge factor in the win was Surge’s defense, led by an outstanding performance from Ben Wenzler. The homegrown defensive back delivered an exceptional game with four tackles and four pass deflections. Another deflection was declared invalid due to a penalty. On top of that, Wenzler secured a crucial interception.

Ben Wenzler shuts down Munich Ravens’ momentum

Late in the third quarter, the Munich Ravens’ offense finally found some rhythm and began to build momentum. But Wenzler stopped it cold with his interception, halting the drive before it could become dangerous. His play gave Surge’s defense a much-needed breather and handed the offense valuable time to extend the lead and ultimately seal the win.

Throughout the matchup, Wenzler and the Surge defense gave Ravens quarterback Russel Tabor constant headaches. The top-five offense of the regular season struggled to find answers, finishing with just 76 passing yards and 154 rushing yards. Surge’s secondary, anchored by Wenzler, stayed strong, while the defensive line added consistent pressure and recorded five sacks.
