Sunday recap: Frankfurt with too many mistakes, Cologne beats Hamburg

The late games also featured exciting football. However, both games were defined by one thing: turnovers. While the Frankfurt Galaxy lost to Rhein Fire, the Cologne Centurions secured their third win of the season against the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Frankfurt Galaxy (2-5) at Rhein Fire (8-1) 13-48

The curse continues for the Frankfurt Galaxy. Until halftime, the Frankfurt team played well and kept up with Rhein Fire. After a last-second touchdown run by Sandro Platzgummer, the Galaxy went into halftime trailing 13-14. However, their turnover curse struck again in the second half. Attempts to keep pace with Rhein Fire were thwarted by fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown, followed by another touchdown drive after the second fumble. The Galaxy couldn't recover, as Rhein Fire's defensive line was too strong, resulting in multiple sacks and tackles for loss that kept Frankfurt scoreless in the second half.

For Toonga, it was another strong game with a record. Glen Toonga has now surpassed Madre London's single-season rushing touchdown record of 22. Toonga is the new record holder with his 4th touchdown today, making it his 23rd of the season.

In Week 10, the Frankfurt Galaxy will face the Hamburg Sea Devils for the second time, while Rhein Fire will play a top game in their Western Conference against the Paris Musketeers.

Hamburg Sea Devils (2-5) at Cologne Centurions (3-4) 25-32

It was a hard-fought game between the Sea Devils and the Centurions. Both teams are part of the Western Conference and had a record of 2-4. It was clear on the field how badly both teams wanted to win, especially one team. The game started well with a strong 41-yard punt return touchdown by Nazir Streater, who impressed in his first game for the Sea Devils. However, while the Centurions, led by Isaiah Weed, stepped up their game, the Sea Devils faltered on both sides of the ball. Quarterback D’Angelo Fulford threw 3 interceptions, and the defense couldn't stop the Centurions' quarterback. Weed consistently marched down the field and scored, both through the air and on the ground. Only in the fourth quarter did the Hamburg offense function, with 2 rushing touchdowns by Homadi and Candido, and a touchdown by Kusterer, but it wasn't enough to threaten the Cologne victory.

Isaiah Weed created over 300 total yards and 3 touchdowns, leading the Cologne Centurions to their third win of the season and their second consecutive victory.

While the Hamburg Sea Devils face a crisis game against the Frankfurt Galaxy, the Cologne Centurions travel to the Madrid Bravos.
