Stuttgart Surge re-sign promising WR-Duo

Stuttgart Surge is continuing to work on their squad for the upcoming season. The team from southern Germany has extended their contracts with two important wide receivers.

Firstly, Florian Lengauer will stay for another season. The 28-year-old Homegrown, came to Stuttgart from the Munich Cowboys in 2023. The wideout got off to a flying start in the GFL. He was named Rookie of the Year in his very first season in 2021.

In the ELF, he began as a back-up. He then worked his way up to starter last season. In his 24 ELF games, Lengauer caught 33 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns.

“I will contribute to winning the final "at home" in Stuttgart by bringing my utmost focus, determination, and passion for the game. Understanding the significance of playing in front of our fans, I will channel the energy from the crowd
to push the team forward", says Lengauer. He adds: "I am ready to leave everything on the field in pursuit of helping the team having maximum success.”

Back-up shows potential

Receiver colleague Jan Pietsch also signs a new one-year contract. The 29-year-old is therefore facing his second year in the league. Last season, the former Saarland Hurricanes player already made his first mark.

Pietsch played two games as a starter and ten more as a back-up. He caught 22 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns.

"Being so close to the final last season and the comradery within the team, it was a no-brainer to come back and win it all this time", says Pietsch.

Surge therefore further strengthens their receiver room. In addition to Lengauer and Pietsch, the contract with former All-Star Leon Helm was extended. Jeff Cotton joins the team as a former NFL receiver. Tight end Roberto Miranda, a player from the US college, also supports the receiver group. Stuttgart Surge is gearing up to reach the Championship Game 2025 on September 7th in their city.
