Silas Nacita announces retirement for after the season

Silas Nacita, running back and wide receiver for the Helvetic Guards, has announced his retirement via social media. The 29-year-old US-American wants to end the season with the Guards, then call it quits. On instagram he said: "I always knew the day would come and I’m thankful to say that I’m satisfied. I will play the last 2 games of my career and that will be the end. Football gave me so much. Wins and losses, highs and lows, happiness and pain. It gave me opportunities I didn’t know were possible, but the most important thing it ever gave me was relationships." Silas commented.

"What it gave me"

With the Guards, the Swiss-Army-Knife had quite a good season, now wants to extend his story in the last two games. "I won’t remember how many wins or losses I had or how many touchdowns or fumbles I had, but I will remember the people. Thank you to every teammate, coach, opponent, referee, league official, equipment manager, water girl, physio, and the countless others that help to make this sport possible. I can only hope that I was able to give back to this sport a fraction of what it gave me."

Huge career

The product of Baylor University product has suited up for multiple European football teams, having played for the Frankfurt Universe, Marburg Mercenaries, Guelfi Firenze and Danube Dragons, winning the Austrian title in 2022. This year, he joined Norm Chow and the Guards in Switzerland in the ELF. It's needless to say that Nacita had one of the biggest football careers in Europe.
