Semifinal: Saturday's Top Performer - Florian Bierbaumer

It was an incredible afternoon for Florian Bierbaumer. And that's how he put it after the victory in the Semfinal of the European League of Football at the microphone of the TV channel ProSieben MAXX:

"It was incredible to experience. An incredible atmosphere. Unbelievable, thanks to Vienna. An incredible feeling. I'm looking forward to the next weeks."

Holmes and Bierbaumer outstanding

The season continues for the Vikings - thanks to an outstanding quarterback Ben Holmes on Saturday, but also thanks to a great game from Bierbaumer.

The Tight End scored two impressive touchdowns in the first half, using his physicality to hold off several defenders on each catch.

"We started strongly, exactly as planned. That was our script," said the almost 6.5 foot tall Austrian.

Bierbaumer with three touchdowns

After the break, the Musketeers caught up and came as close as three points. Not a surpise for Bierbaumer: "Paris aren't in the Semifinals for nothing. They score points and that was clear. It was just important for us to play for four quarters and not stop at some point."

They didn't do that. Vienna held off and kept the French at distance. Bierbaumer scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter with his eighth reception of the game - the Viennese thus grabbed their ticket to the Championship Game in Gelsenkirchen in a fortnight.
