Sea Devils re-sign starter safety Lasse Meyer

Next signing for the Hamburg Sea Devils. After the long-established team had already extended the contracts of kicker Eric Schlomm and tight end John Levi Kruse, Lasse Meyer is now also staying.

The free safety extends his contract with the Hamburg team for another season. Meyer is a part of the Sea Devils' core personnel. He started eleven of the twelve games last season. The 27-year-old collected 38 tackles, two pass breakups and one interception.

"All the World's our stadium, and we merely have the best fans,” said Meyer. He adds: “Moin Hamburg, I'm not finished with you yet. I can't change that. No matter where in Europe we played last year, you came faithfully and created an atmosphere that I simply can't miss."

Fatah's role in extension - Meyer: "I knew I had to say yes"

New head coach Shuan Fatah also played a major role in the contract extension. Meyer reveals: "When coach Shuan called out: ‘once more unto the breach, dear friend’, I knew I had to say yes. The last season has already been carried far out to sea by the Elbe, now it's time to set sail and get Hamburg back where it belongs and you, the fans, more than deserve it."

Meyer joined the ELF in 2022. He spent his first two years with Rhein Fire, with whom he even became champion in 2023. With Fire, however, he was played as a backup. He only started four games in two years. In 2024, he then moved to the Sea Devils for more playing time. A plan that worked.
