Saturday Recap - Vikings dominate Mercenaries, Bravos rattle Sea Devils

Vienna Vikings (11-0) AT Helvetic Mercenaries (2-8)

Final: 49 - 3

The Vienna Vikings showcased their dominance in the European League of Football with a resounding victory over the Helvetic Mercenaries. The Vikings' offense was unstoppable, accumulating over 500 total yards, while the Mercenaries struggled to surpass just 150 yards in total.

Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes was the standout player, throwing for five touchdowns without any interceptions. His precise passing and effective leadership kept the Mercenaries’ defense on the back foot throughout the game.

The Swiss defense had no solutions for the Vikings' relentless attack, consistently failing to stop Holmes and his receivers. This defensive ineptitude allowed the Vikings to control the game from start to finish.

On the offensive side, the Mercenaries faced significant challenges. Unable to gain any momentum, the Mercenaries' offense stalled, rendering them ineffective against the well-prepared Vikings.

This commanding performance by the Vienna Vikings reinforced their status as one of the elite teams in the league. Their comprehensive victory demonstrated their prowess on both sides of the ball, making them a daunting challenge for any future opponents.

Hamburg Sea Devils (2-7) AT Madrid Bravos (7-2)

Final: 9 - 52

In Week 11 of the European League of Football, the Madrid Bravos delivered a commanding performance at home, decisively defeating the Hamburg Sea Devils. The Bravos showcased a multifaceted offensive strategy that left the Sea Devils struggling to keep up.

Wide receiver Jean Madin-Cerezo was the star of the game, racking up over 200 receiving yards and scoring three touchdowns against his former team. Having played for the Hamburg Sea Devils since 2021, Madin-Cerezo’s standout performance was a statement game, highlighting his exceptional skills and the Bravos' dynamic offensive play.

The Bravos' offense was firing on all cylinders, with multiple players making significant contributions. This collective effort underscored the team's depth and versatility, making them a formidable opponent for any defense.

On the other side of the ball, the Hamburg Sea Devils' offense, led by quarterback D'Angelo Fulford, struggled to find its rhythm. Despite managing to secure more first downs than the Bravos, Hamburg failed to capitalize on their opportunities, resulting in a lackluster offensive display with few scoring chances. Fulford and his unit were unable to convert their advances into points, highlighting their inefficiency in the red zone and under pressure.

The Bravos' triumph over the Sea Devils not only solidified their position in the league standings but also sent a strong message to other teams. With players like Jean Madin-Cerezo leading the charge, Madrid’s future looks bright as they continue their pursuit of excellence this season.

Stuttgart Surge (9-0) AT Milano Seamen (3-7)

Final: 51 - 18

The Stuttgart Surge continued their undefeated streak with a decisive victory over the Milano Seamen, improving their record to 9-0 and solidifying their status as top contenders for this year’s ELF Championship Game.

Surge quarterback Reilley Hennessey led the charge with an impressive performance, throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for another. Hennessey accumulated over 200 total yards and posted a quarterback rating of over 150, demonstrating his pivotal role in the team’s success. His precision and versatility left the Seamen's defense without any answers, as they struggled to contain the high-powered Surge offense.

Defensively, the Seamen were outmatched, unable to keep up with the relentless Surge attack. The few points Milano managed to put on the board came from their special teams, highlighting their struggles on both sides of the ball. Despite these challenges, the Seamen did find some success on the ground, scoring two rushing touchdowns.

As the Surge continue their pursuit of a perfect season, their sights are set firmly on the playoffs. With Hennessey leading a potent offense and a defense that consistently delivers, Stuttgart is well-positioned for a deep playoff run and possibly a championship victory. Meanwhile, the Seamen will need to regroup and reassess as they prepare for the remainder of their season, with an eye on building for the future.
