Roundup Week 1: No surprises, but exclamation marks

Week one is in the books and in all the games, the favorite came out on top. But there was no boredom, because the weaker teams from last season have made big improvements, and it shows!

Improvement everywhere

An example is the Fehérvár Enthroners, who, despite losing clearly to the Vienna Vikings, dominated parts of the game. The potential is clear and just needs to be shown throughout the entire game. Another exciting matchup was on Saturday in Switzerland, where the Barcelona Dragons faced the Helvetic Mercenaries. The Dragons won the game, but it showed that both teams can play excellent football. Where these teams will go is still open, as both made some mistakes. One thing is certain: these teams must be taken seriously and have upset potential! In Poland, there was a real shootout with a total of 88 points and 780 total yards! The Wrocław Panthers won the game 49-39 against the Berlin Thunder. Both teams have clearly improved compared to last season, making for a true football highlight in front of over 15,000 fans. The Wrocław Panthers have shown their ambitions and are clear Championship contenders!

Promising matchups ahead

Speaking of contenders, we must not forget last year's champion, the Rhein Fire. They won a hard-fought game 42-12. The score does not reflect how close the game actually was, as the Centurions were able to match Rhein Fire at times and contain their power. It will be very interesting to see how the Cologne franchise develops throughout the season. Another very exciting game took place in Prague, where the Hamburg Sea Devils visited the Prague Lions. Both franchises underwent big changes in the off-season, which the Hamburg franchise handled better in week one. They beat the Lions 31-21 in a game filled with big plays. Two 90-yard touchdowns by the Sea Devils decided the game, which just makes you excited for more.

Overall, it seems that the teams in the European League of Football are closer in quality and promise great matchups with upset potential every week, which just makes you look forward to an amazing season.
