From 16 overall teams, a total of six teams made the playoffs in the ELF. While the Vienna Vikings and the Rhein Fire advanced directly to the semifinals, Berlin Thunder, Frankfurt Galaxy, Wrocław Panthers and Stuttgart Surge are looking forward to the Wildcard Round of the playoffs. Berlin Thunder and the Wrocław Panthers secured both last playoff spots in the last week of the regular season - Stuttgart Surge secured the third seed already in previous weeks. 

Knockout-phase of the season

In the playoffs, a classic knockout system will be played. On Saturday, September 9, the Thunder and Galaxy will meet in Frankfurt. Stuttgart Surge hosts the Wrocław Panthers on Sunday, September 10, at their home GAZi-Stadion. Rhein Fire and Vienna Vikings, thanks to their strong performance, have earned a Bye-Week. Looking at the third final of the ELF-history, both previous winners, Frankfurt Galaxy and the Vienna Vikings, are still in the hunt for their second trophy. With Rhein Fire, we could see a new contender on the rise or are other teams making a push at the perfect time?
