Rhein Fire - the Kansas City Chiefs of Europe?

Rhein Fire did it - the German franchise was crowned the ELF Champion 2024 in a thrilling championship game.

The second title in the team's history and the second title in a row. Rhein Fire is the first ELF team ever to achieve this milestone. Mastermind Jim Tomsula's team can be proud of itself.

Fire needed a little time to get into the season. But once the machine got rolling, nobody could stop it. And that doesn't only mean MVP Glen Toonga, who alone accounted for 1576 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns.

They went through the regular season with a record of 11:1 and a convincing dominance. A dominance that otherwise only the Vienna Vikings showed this season, who Fire beat 51:20 in the championship game.

Role model from the NFL?

Rhein Fire have dominated the ELF for two years. Apparently still not enough for the team. "We gonna keep this thing rolling and find a way to come back. We are not done yet," said Fire quarterback Jadrian Clark after the championship game on the microphone of German TV channel ‘ProSieben’. It shows that the team is hungry for more. But what else can come? After their second title in a row, the stated goal is probably the first ELF three-peat.

Dominance, two titles in a row and a possible three-peat? Die-hard football fans know that from somewhere. That's right, from the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs put in a similar performance here. The last two Super Bowl trophies went to the team led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are also aiming to win the first three-peat in league history this year.

The Chiefs also got off to a slightly rough start to the season. Although they have won all their league games so far, they have lacked their usual dominance at the start of the season. Do we need more similarities to Rhein Fire?
