Rhein Fire re-sign homegrown DB Till Janssen
The Rhein Fire have annouced the re-signing of homegrown defensive back Till Janssen. The German defender will return for his fourth season in Düsseldorf as he hopes to win a third straight title with the Fire.
The 30-year old German has been a intregral part of the Rhein Fire's secondary in both of the last two championship seaons. In 2023, he made 32 tackles and had 2 interceptions. Last season in 2024 the 190cm and 92kg defensive back had 24 tackles and 2 interceptions in the regular seasons as well as 2 forced fumbles. Overall in his four year ELF career Janssen has made 98 tackles and 8 interceptions.
When his team needed him most Janssen stepped up last season making two crucial interceptions inthe playoffs. The biggest of these two came in overtime of the semi-finals against the Stuttgart Surge, where the savvy veteran picked off Stuttgart's quarterback Reilly Hennessey to get his team back in the championship game.
Janssen will be joined by offensive tackle Sven Breidenbach as the Rhein Fire hope to go into a new era of football moving on from stars like Jadrian Clark and Glen Toonga. Former NFL head coach Jim Tomsula and new quarterback Chad Jeffries hope homegrowns such as Janssen can step up and help the team make history and go for a three-peat in the ELF.
