Rhein Fire needs perfection to reach postseason
Felix Pahl

Rhein Fire improved to a 5-4 record after a road win in Hamburg. With just three games left in the regular season, the team is still fighting for a playoff spot - but knows that every game now is a must-win.
Too many missed chances
Even in victory, Fire had issues. The offense moved the ball well but failed to score on key drives. Two red zone fumbles and missed extra points made the game closer than it needed to be. Head coach Richard Kent said clearly: “If you play good opponents and lose the ball, the game gets tighter than it should be. The most important thing is protecting the football.”
Receiver Harlan Kwofie, who had another big game, agreed: “We need to finish drives better. In the playoffs, you can’t afford mistakes like that.”
What’s next for Rhein Fire?
With a 5-4 record, Rhein Fire is still in the playoff race - but the road ahead is difficult, and they likely need to win all of their remaining games.
Their final schedule includes:
- Week 11: vs Berlin Thunder
- Week 13: vs Raiders Tirol
- Week 14: vs Nordic Storm
All three opponents are challenging. Berlin Thunder just gave the undefeated Nordic Storm a tough fight and still have a chance to finish the season strong. Raiders Tirol and Nordic Storm have already beaten Rhein Fire this season - and will not make it easy in the rematch. Every game from now on is a must-win if Fire wants to stay in the playoff race.

Fan support stays strong
Even away from home, Fire continues to feel the support. Coach Kent praised the traveling fans: “Our fans are fantastic. They follow us everywhere. It gives the team extra energy.”
A team with talent - but time is running out
Rhein Fire has the tools to make a run. Quarterback Chad Jeffries has strong targets like Mark Pope, Jonathan Scott, and Harlan Kwofie. The defense can make big plays. But without cleaner execution, the playoff dream could slip away.
If Fire can fix their mistakes and win out, they still have a real shot. But there’s no more room for errors.
