Jakub Samel, former head coach and sports director of the Panthers Wrocław, joins Jim Herrmann’s staff as defensive assistant (DB) and Special Teams Assistant. Jakub Samel joined the Panthers Wrocław in 2016 and initially held the position of Offensive Line Coach. Samel was appointed head coach for the 2020 season and became the Panthers’ Sports Director in 2022. In total, he won four Polish championships with the Panthers, the IFAF Europe Champions League in 2016 and was voted European Coach of the Year by the Podyum platform in 2020.

Gaining experience in the US

The 35-year-old also gained experience in the USA: Samel interned with the Cleveland Browns during training camp in 2023 under head coach Kevin Stefanski, in 2018 he interned on the coaching staff at Troy University and in 2019 at West Virginia University. Samel was also on the staff of the Polish national team (2012-2017) and offensive coordinator and head coach of the Silesia Rebels (2013-2016).
