Raiders HC Jim Herrmann about family and his goals with the team
The Raiders Tirol made the blockbuster coaching singing of the offseason, bringing in former Super Bowl champion and Broyles award winner Jim Herrmann as their new head coach. The veteran coach made clear right from the start what his priorities and goals are at the Raiders’ press conference.
Herrmann, a 38-year veteran has coached at various levels and has one of the most impressive resumes in the ELF. The 62-year-old is a Super Bowl and National champion, has been named best assistant coach in the NCAA and coached in the NFL, XFL, NCAA, IFL, as well as in Canada and Japan.
An aspect Herrmann mentioned multiple times was the importance of not only building a culture but becoming a family. No easy task given the size of the roster, the mix of homegrowns and Americans and the pressure of having success right from the start. But the NFL veteran has already set his goals high.
After a 2022 season that ended in the semi-final against Hamburg and a disappointing 2023 season, Herrmann wants to get the Raiders back to where they were before joining the ELF: The top. Tirol has fallen behind their Austrian rival Vienna Vikings over the past two seasons. Next season will show whether the experienced coach can re-establish the Raiders as the best organization in Austria and all of Europe.
